Miranda Ritchie
Miranda has been playing netball for as long as she can remember. She joined Applemore Netball Club on her PE teachers recommendation and played in the first team aged just 14. She played county netball as a junior and has been playing in the top league in Southampton for over 20 years (apart from time off having babies). I was asked to set up a netball club in Lymington in 2001 and have enjoyed seeing it grow ever since.
Natalie Yates
Natalie always played netball at school and college, and on leaving university she joined Doodlebugs netball team as a junior coach and team manager and achieved her Level 1 coaching certificate. She also played for Doodlebugs adults in the West Dorset League. She has also taken part in county selection, taking coaching groups and selecting children to go forward and play for the county. On getting a teaching job at Priestlands School she became teacher in charge of netball. She has organised and run a very successful Year 6 netball project for three years. This project gives coaching and competition opportunities for feeder schools to Priestlands and has been very beneficial to our Club. Natalie has been instrumental in establishing excellent School/Club links with Lymington Netball Club and has been coaching with us for two years. Currently now enjoying playing with Lymington 1.
Jayne Walder
Jayne is new to the coaching team this year after being part of Lymington Netball Club since 2005. During her school years she enjoyed playing a range of sports and was keen to return to netball and be part of the Club.
Sneh Cook
"My greatest memory of playing netball was winning the league in our Borough of London – this was in 1983 ! I’ve been part of Lymington Netball Club since 2006 and play in our Lymington 2 netball team. More recently I have taken up a coaching position with the club, which I thoroughly enjoy. I have attended an umpiring course which I found very informative and helpful, especially when it comes to coaching in the correct manner, though a coaching course in itself is something I also aspire to complete! I have four young girls, the two eldest of which enjoy playing at Lymington Netball Club and also at their school’s netball club where I also coach."
Sam Bown
Sam is now in her second seasson of coaching and had a very successful first season last year with her u/10's. Sam is always very enthusiastic and also helps do some assistant coaching with at Milford Junior School. She has 2 daughters playing at the Club and is always very helpful on the social side of things!
Sally Steggell
“After having played netball nearly every moment of every day until my early twenties, working in London put paid to any ‘organised’ leisure time I had. Sadly, I left netball to play tennis. Now that my daughter, Daisy, has a keen interest in netball, I have volunteered to help with the club, and have attended three coaching and one umpiring course. I hope to attend more courses this year and hope that my newly acquired skills will benefit the whole club, but in particular I will be coaching the under 13 squad.” Sally is also a member of our successful Lymington 1 side.
Mary Marshall
“Netball has been a sport I've played and enjoyed since I was 10 years old. Having represented my school team, I went on to play at County level as a junior and joined a local club back in my home town of Bury St. Edmunds. I continued playing netball at University and on moving to Hampshire, joined Applemore Netball Club where I have remained ever since. It is a great opportunity for me at Lymington Junior Netball Club to coach youngsters who have the same enthusiasm for the sport as I have always had. I'm very much looking forward to helping nurture and develop the obvious talent of the Lymington girls.”
Mia Ritchie
Mia has been playing netball since junior school and her natural ability and dedication has seen her rise through the ranks of netball to be playing at Regional level at the age of just 15. She was part of the inaugural Lymington junior team that won many titles and since the age of 14 has played senior netball in the premier league in Southampton and the South Regional league. She also captained an unbeaten Mid-Hants County team and is at Taunton’s College, Southampton who have been to the finals of the National Schools and British Colleges. Mia is currently playing in regional division 1 for Blades Netball Club and has also been selected for the newly formed Team South under 19 National Talent League Squad. Mia enjoys many sports including football, volleyball, basketball and tennis and is very keen to share her knowledge. This will stand her in good stead to pursue her ambition to become a PE teacher.
Sue Phillips
"I have been playing netball since I was 14 and it all started whilst I was at Priestlands School thanks to the encouragement of my P.E teacher, Gill Smith. I have continued to play what seems to be all my life for clubs like Applemore, Rushmoor and Puma's. I have also played at County and Regional level. This summer my family and I came 'home' to the Lymington area and I was keen to get involved with a club, also my daughter, ages 9 was keen to start playing. It must of been fate as my husband was having his hair cut at a local salon and they were chatting and the girl said "my mum runs Lymington Netball Club, give her a call". I did just that but the co-incidence was that it was Miranda and we played together at Applemore when we were 14! She asked if I would like to help with the coaching of the u/10's and u/11's and I jumped at the opportunity. I am really looking forward to getting involved and give something back to netball on 'home ground' literally! Let's hope the girls get as much out of netball that I have.... thanks Gill.
Ella Ritchie
Ella is keen to help out with the younger age groups and improve her coaching techniques. She has been selected for the Mid-Hants and East Dorset partnership academies and currently plays for Applemore, Poole and Lymington 1.
