Introducing our Coaches
Sharon Cruse Sharon started playing for our first team in 2008. Soon afterwards she was keen to also get involved with coaching at the Club and led our senior coaching sessions last season whilst completing her Level 2 and Level 3 coaching courses. She has been a huge asset to the Club and will this season be teaching our talented U14 and U16 players. Sharon plays in the South Region league and her hobbies apart from netball include mountaineering. Miranda Ritchie Miranda has been playing netball for as long as she can remember. She joined Applemore Netball Club on her PE teachers recommendation and played in the first team aged just 14. She played county netball as a junior and has now retired from Regional level netball and plays for the unbeaten Lymington 1 in the Bournemouth League. "I was asked to set up a netball club in Lymington in 2001 and have enjoyed seeing it grow ever since". Natalie Peacock "I have been involved in coaching netball from the age of 18, when I started coaching for Doodlebugs in Bournemouth. When I started work at Priestlands School in 2003 I was keen to set up good school club links with Lymington so met with Miranda. Since then I have been coaching for Lymington working with various teams and age groups which I hope to continue in to the future. I was honoured to be nominated by my fellow coaches in 2010 for the Hampshire Netball Association Teacher of the Year Award, which I won." Kathy Rudd From the age of 11 I have always played netball. I started out as GA playing for my school and county of Oxfordshire. I then moved position and played C/ WA playing for Elvaston in Berkshire, where I played junior and then senior County for Berkshire. I was lucky enough to go to New Zealand to travel where I played for a team in Hawera who needed a GD so that is the position I played and have played ever since. I moved to Hampshire to teach in Southampton and played for Swan and then Applemore where I met Miranda. I have taught and coached netball for 20 years and enjoyed working with some great netballers along the way. I see coaching at Lymington as an opportunity to inspire other young people as I was inspired when I started." Mary Marshall "Netball has been a sport I've played and enjoyed since I was 10. Having represented my school team, I went on to play at County level as a junior and joined a local club back in my home town of Bury St. Edmunds. I continued playing netball at University and on moving to Hampshire, joined Applemore Netball Club where I remained for many years. It is great for me to coach youngsters who have the same enthusiasm for the sport as I have always had. I'm very much looking forward to helping nurture and develop the obvious talent of the Lymington girls." Sue Phillips "I have been playing netball what feels like all my life with a small break when I had the children. Netball is a big part of my life so when I moved back to Lymington I was so pleased to continue my passion. I have only been with Lymington for 4 years and have been Chairperson for the last 3 years and been involved in developing the club as well as coaching a number of junior teams and playing for Lymington 2. I have completed my Level 1 Coaching Award and hope to continue to develop players within the club." "I always played netball all through primary and senior school and got serious about it when I was 20 after getting my career sorted. I've played local level netball in Berkshire and North Hampshire before joining Lymington Netball Club in 2007. Apart from finding somewhere to live when moving here, a Netball team was 2ndon my list. I am now heavily involved in coaching, umpiring and of course playing. I really enjoy umpiring and coaching and it gives me great pleasure to give something back." Kate Gallagher "I have been playing netball since I was 8 years old and have recently got involved in coaching. I joined Lymington Netball Club in 2010 and have since completed my Level 1 coaching course. I would like to complete my Level 2 in the near future. I enjoy coaching all the girls and love being able to help them develop their skills in something that I love." Kate plays in the adult section of the Club and also sits on the Committee as the Volunteer Co-ordinator. Nice to have another youngster on the team. Ella Ritchie "I have been playing netball for Lymington since I was 12. I was a member of the successful Brockenhurst College Netball Academy who got to the final of the British Colleges Championships and the National Schools finals in 2010. I have also been to the National U16 Club Championships when I played for Weston Park Blades. I have completed my Level 1 Coaching course and hope I can pass on some of my skills and experience to other youngsters so they can achieve their potential." Debby Middle Debby grew up around the netball courts watching her mum play and as soon as her daughters were old enough she introduced them to the sport. She started off assisting with her daughters training session and passed her Level 1 in 2010. She has also started playing again and is a great support to the Committee having taken over the kit ordering administration together with Sian Frame. Liz joined the Club in 2008 when her previous club folded. She has been keen to get involved beyond just playing and last year embarked on her first coaching role. She enjoyed it and at the end of the year completed her Level 1 qualification. She is always keen to support all aspects of the Club and has been another great asset. Adriana Morris Adriana is the Club's newest coach. She says "I played at school in Avon and represented Somerset at County Level until I moved to Italy to work. After having a family I still love the game and now feel I have time to help the Under 9's. My daughters Georgia and Josie aged 8 and 6 are excited to have fun and learn how to play netball - this is an inspiration to me." Adriana will be completing her Level 1 qualification during the season - we wish her well and welcome her to the team
